Stress is inevitable. Self-care is a lifestyle, and it is the remedy to chronic workplace stress.
Whether you work in person, remote, hybrid, or otherwise…self-care is essential on and off the clock!
Has it been tough to go back into the office? Are you feeling overwhelmed trying to manage your time and responsibilities? Do you feel frustrated with yourself, your co-workers, or your business environment?
These are a few of the signs that indicate a need for self-care. With burnout at an all-time high, you must be attentive to these feelings and signals before the consequences take a toll on your overall health and well-being.
Self-Care is NOT selfish!
You are responsible for making sure your needs are met, not your boss, not your co-workers, family, or friends. You.
Once you can identify where you are anxious, unhappy, or frustrated you have the opportunity to take care of yourself and make new choices.
As the old saying goes, you can’t pour from an empty cup. You must fill your cup first in order to pour into the lives of others, including work!
Practicing self-care can increase your productivity, happiness, and boost your overall self-confidence.
In order to feel different, you must do something different. Where in your day can you build in moments of self-care? Are you willing to have a daily self-care routine in the morning or before bed?
Here are 3 ways to practice self-care regardless of where you work:
- Set Healthy Boundaries– You must decide and communicate your needs or others will do it for you.
- Take Breaks- These mindful moments away from your desk/work will help you re-energize and be more effective.
- Create a Supportive Environment– Does your workspace make you feel happy or stressed? Comfortable or uncomfortable? Is your desk messy or neat? Take note of where you might need to make a change.
Imagine what life at work could feel like if you took care of YOU first. Take the lead and be the role model for your co-workers, solopreneurs, family, and friends.
Self-care is the secret sauce to a happier workplace and a happier YOU!
Coach Jen’s Challenge:
- Create a list of current frustrations in your workplace and set a healthy boundary for each one.
- Design your workday to incorporate several breaks, lunch (no working lunch at your desk!), and a “clock out” time to log off for the day.
- Surround yourself with things that bring you joy, comfort, and motivation without the clutter. Take 60 seconds to clean up your workspace at the end of each day.
